Hazel (Carroll Baker) runs an electrolysis salon but she has to make ends meet. Using the salon as a front, the gang’s activities go almost unnoticed in the growing violence of New York. As the film unfolds we find things becoming a strangely soap-operatic “send-up of America the absurd” as the New York Times from the period observed.
